Student Voices: Entry I

A Note from Chip:

This blog post is a special one. We’re excited to share that the ideas and content in this post were crafted by two of our students. As part of their ongoing engagement with the school, they took the lead in the writing process to share their thoughts. We are proud of their contribution and excited to have them share their voice with you.

Dear Parents,

Thank you for all your support. We really appreciate it. Here at Pinyon we try to be a community, and with all of your support you are helping us grow and be a better place. Thank you for letting us go to Pinyon. Without you, we wouldn't be able to connect and be friends. The ways you support us is by going on field trips, volunteering. You help by making materials, funding the school, and of course being here to help us grow. Seeing all of you guys here to drop and pick your kid up makes our day.

And of course, thank you for enrolling your kid to Pinyon Montessori.

Here is a day in the life of a Pinyon student:

You start working on your journal tired yet determined. You see your friend walking toward you. They ask a question”What is the journal prompt?”, you answer it. They walk away saying thanks. You continue your journaling. The bell rings and it's time to go to the park. You see that you can walk with a friend. When you get there you start to play or talk with your friends. Before you know it. it's time to go…..AFTERNOON ... .It's time for lunch, your mom packed you a PB and J, some crackers, an energy bar, a Kitkat, and some carrots. You save the bar for a snack but devour everything else. Storytime comes and you listen intently, the book “Peter and the Starcatchers” is almost done by the time it ends. Sustained Silent Reading or SSR comes and you start a new book, it's really interesting. Afternoon work time starts and you start working on a big two person work, it's a 200 piece puzzle. You finally finish and you both celebrate. Report starts and someone gives a reminder to clean up after lunch. “The Entertainer” says the classic joke, “what did the pencil say to the other pencil, looking sharp…”. For gratitude someone says they’re grateful for trees. After gratitude we play a round of “I Spy, with my little eye” . We get dismissed one by one to go home…

THE END
